The goal of the Bureau of Infectious Diseases (BID) is to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases (e.g., foodborne outbreaks, general infectious diseases, healthcare-associated infections, influenza, meningitis, tuberculosis, vaccine-preventable diseases, waterborne outbreaks, zoonotic diseases and vector-borne diseases).
Job DescriptionWhat You ll Do:
ODH s Bureau of Infectious Diseases (BID) seeks an experienced, goal-driven epidemiology investigation supervisor plan, implement & manage all aspects of the Outbreak Response & Bioterrorism Investigation Team (ORBIT). This position will participate in development of section policies & procedures & supervise lower-level epidemiology investigators.

Job Duties:
- Implements epidemiologic studies to assess levels of disease, risk of disease & prevalence of identified infectious diseases
- Leads outbreak investigation & control efforts for identified infectious diseases
- Supervises lower-level epidemiology investigators & assigned staff in the performance of epidemiologic & support activities
- Evaluates the timeliness, accuracy & completeness of surveillance data & plans initiatives to improve data quality
- Generates hypotheses or tests established hypotheses of disease causation & associated risks
- Writes and edits material for professional journals & other internal & external publications (e.g., ODH reports, infectious disease journals & publications).
Unusual working conditions:
Requires travel; may be away from home and normal work site up to 30 days during emergencies; may be exposed to contagious and communicable diseases and toxic or hazardous chemicals.
Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (Flexible Schedule). This is an exempt hourly position, with a pay range of 14 on the E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule.

QualificationsPosition Qualifications
Completion of graduate core program in public health or preventive medicine; 12 mos. exp. in epidemiology investigation with local or federal health agency which included 6 mos. exp. performing duties comparable with duties of Epidemiology Investigator 3, 65763.

6 mos. exp. as Epidemiology Investigator 3, 65763.
OR
Alternative, equivalent evidence of the Minimum Class Qualifications noted above.
