The School-Based Prevention Specialist works to promote mental health awareness, suicide prevention, bullying prevention, and substance use prevention among students in grades K‑12. The Specialist conducts individual and group sessions using evidence‑based curriculum and is responsible for day‑to‑day tasks of engaging students. This position requires strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and a commitment to creating positive change in a multicultural environment.

North Community Counseling Centers (NCCC) is a nonprofit mental health and addiction agency that has been providing essential services since 1968. We offer therapy, case management, substance use disorder treatment, and youth and adolescent programming across four locations, including home‑ and school‑based programs.
Duties and Responsibilities- Demonstrate ability to implement evidence‑based curriculum with individuals and groups
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and deliver program services to clients
- Identify need for chemical dependency and/or mental health treatment
- De‑escalate client crisis situations in an appropriate therapeutic manner
- Seek support of area services and referral sources for clients
- Interact professionally and respectfully with clients, parents, teachers, and school staff
- Seek feedback from clients and co‑workers
- Abide by and have knowledge of agency confidentiality policies and HIPAA rules
- Complete required ADAMH outcome instruments as required
- Maintain accurate documentation and complete it in a timely manner
- Communicate needed information respectfully and clearly with clients, providers, and staff
- Update and maintain accurate client documentation in accordance with applicable standards
- Meet minimum productivity as per agency policy
- Assess personal training needs, set goals to meet these needs, and achieve them
- Degree in human services field required
- Ohio Social Work license or Ohio Prevention Specialist certification preferred
- Strong documentation skills and ability to use electronic health record system
- Compassionate and caring demeanor
- Ability to build rapport with clients
- Strong leadership qualities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license & insurance; must have an operating vehicle

Job Type: Full‑Time
Rate of Pay: $42,000 - $44,000
