Job Details
• Position is based on a high-acuity 36-bed Oncology Telemetry Progressive Care Unit with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU care,
• Patient population includes adults and rare pediatric cases, mainly with solid tumor, orthopedic, and thoracic oncology diagnoses,
• Patient ratios are 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for Med Surg Telemetry,
• Unit uses GE B450 telemetry monitoring, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, bladder scanners, and PCA pumps,
• Epic charting system is used on the unit,
• Self-scheduling requests are honored prior to posting the final schedule,
• Floating to other equivalent or lower acuity PCU or Med Surg Oncology units is required,
• First week of orientation is Monday through Friday on dayshift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor,
• Weekend shift requirements vary based on unit needs,
Job Requirements
• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration,
• Minimum 2 years of high acuity PCU patient care experience required,
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS,
• Ability to interpret dysrhythmias, use rapid response teams, administer blood products, manage central and peripheral lines, and perform advanced monitoring and respiratory support,
• Epic (EMR) experience required,
• Previous oncology, ICU or PCU experience preferred but not required,
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program,
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a formal leadership role,
Additional Information
• Responsibilities include care for complex oncology and progressive care patients with heightened focus on infection prevention and fall reduction,
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly upon contract acceptance,
• Interdisciplinary team includes physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams,
• Unit supports nurse growth and learning; previous travel experience preferred but not required,
• RTO must be requested and approved prior to contract signing,
• Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers,
• Former employees eligible if six months have passed since last assignment; current employees at Ohio State University facilities are ineligible as travelers,
• Scrub requirements not specified; holiday and weekend coverage expected as per unit needs,
