About The Job

Specialty Rx is a Long-Term Care pharmacy providing pharmaceutical services to long‑term care facilities and assisted‑living communities. Specialty Rx takes pride in delivering personalized care and quality pharmacy services.

Shift: 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday‑Friday, with flexibility required for evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

Previous Pharmacy Manager Experience is required.

Operational Oversight
  • Monitor daily workflow across fill, packaging, verification, and delivery staging.
  • Ensure production and delivery deadlines are met, including STAT and emergency orders.
  • Coordinate workload distribution among shifts to maintain efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee automation systems and workflow queues to minimize downtime.
  • Lead preparation of the pharmacy floor and shipping areas for onboarding new facilities.
  • Familiar with Frameworks Dashboard and related functions: clearing a batch, combining a batch, managing workflow for daily batch, releasing delivery routes.
  • Understand inventory management and maintain a clean, professional work environment.
  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and implement changes to improve overall efficiency.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
Narcotic Room Management
  • Oversee staffing schedules to ensure proper coverage and continuity in workflow.
  • Ensure handling, storage, and documentation of controlled substances meet DEA and Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for narcotics‑related issues or concerns.
Team Leadership
  • Supervise, coach, and support pharmacy technicians to ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Manage a team of FTEs across multiple departments.
  • Provide hands‑on training for new hires and ongoing development for current staff.
  • Inspire and motivate the floor team while promoting a positive work environment.
  • Recognize and celebrate team performance milestones.
  • Act as the initial escalation point for workflow or staffing issues before involving management.
  • Ensure clear communication with team members and leadership.
  • Maintain awareness of team member movements and ensure proper handoffs between shifts or during absences.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Manage weekend operations remotely, when required.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure daily operations meet all state Board of Pharmacy, DEA, CMS, and internal compliance standards.
  • Perform regular compliance checks for labeling, storage, documentation, and controlled substances.
  • Ensure adherence to USP standards for packaging, storage, and environmental conditions.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to reduce errors and improve service quality.
Communication & Coordination
  • Act as a liaison between pharmacists, technicians, dispatch, and management teams.
  • Lead and attend daily huddles to communicate workflow updates, staffing needs, and operational priorities.
  • Escalate compliance or regulatory concerns to the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) as needed.
  • Coordinate with Billing, QA, and Dispatch departments to maintain seamless operations.
  • Manage PC Payroll scheduling.
  • Utilize computer systems effectively;
    Frameworks/ECM knowledge is a plus.
Additional Duties
  • Assist in the onboarding process for new facilities, ensuring all operational areas are set up and functional.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the pharmacy.
Qualifications
  • Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the OH Board of Pharmacy.
  • CPhT Certification is required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a long‑term care or high‑volume pharmacy setting.
  • Previous Manager experience 1–2 years required.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy workflow, automation systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
  • Flexible to work varied hours and weekends as needed.
  • Strong computer skills required; experience with Frameworks/ECM is a plus.
