The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality and reliability of clinical care. The Quality Improvement Lead develops and executes strategic quality plans within designated areas to ensure continued innovation and world-class care. Under the direction of the Associate Director for Quality Program Coordination, the Lead identifies and implements strategic and service-line quality initiatives that support all levels of patient care.
The Lead applies specialized clinical quality improvement knowledge and analytical skills to lead a quality management and improvement program aligned with organizational goals. This includes evaluating patterns, trends, and processes to improve patient care, leading multidisciplinary teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify and prioritize clinical quality improvement gaps/opportunities and target goals using comparative data and benchmarking.
- Facilitate data collection, analysis, evaluation, and dissemination of reports related to quality initiatives.
- Leverage evidence-based best practices to inform service line-specific action plans.
- Coordinate and execute the clinical performance improvement process, including iteration and implementation efforts.
- Monitor change management effectiveness and revise strategies to achieve target goals and outcomes.
- Lead communication within and between multidisciplinary collaborators and stakeholders; educate on data analysis and improvement opportunities.
- Develop large-scope, precedent-setting processes and mechanisms for best practices in clinical quality outcomes.
The Lead reports to the Associate Director of Quality Program Coordination with guidance from senior quality leaders. Responsibilities include developing and executing multifaceted, service-line and area-specific strategies for clinical quality improvement and monitoring, ensuring regulatory adherence, and promoting process improvement principles across designated areas.
The role requires leadership, coaching, and project management skills, data analysis, and the ability to influence meaningful, data-driven change across complex projects and teams.
Minimum Qualifications- Master's Degree in Clinical Field. Clinical Licensure.
- 2 years of relevant experience required; 4-6 years preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, organizational and facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in high-quality, safe health care delivery.
- Project management experience with quality tools (e.g., DMAIC, Lean Six Sigma, PDSA).
- Proven track record of achieving results with complex, dynamic teams.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office; ability to learn new systems.
- Maintain continuing education credits and licensure as required.
- Maintain qualifications, training, and certifications to access/analyze data; meet mandatory education and health requirements.
