Pharmacist - Operations, Riverside Methodist Hospital

This is a full‑time (32 hours per week) evening shift position at Riverside Methodist Hospital. The pharmacist is responsible for dispensing and compounding medication, counseling patients, interpreting prescriptions, managing drug therapy, overseeing drug utilization, and mentoring pharmacy students and residents. The role requires efficient independent work and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other health‑care practitioners to ensure safe, high‑quality, and cost‑effective drug therapy.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution (Required)
  • Current Ohio pharmacist license (Required)
  • Basic Life Support Certification—current or obtained during the orientation period (unless >50% of scheduled work hours are off‑site or not in a patient care setting)
  • ASHP accredited residency or equivalent pharmacy practice experience
  • Pharmacy Board Certifications or other certifications (e.g., Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Advanced‑level degree in healthcare field (preferred)
  • Collaborative practice experience
  • Pharmacokinetic drug dosing experience
  • Drug therapy management experience
Responsibilities and Duties

Acute Care / Infusion (50%) – Review provider orders, dispense and compound medications per Ohio Health pharmacy policies, ensure proper labeling, interpret prescriptions, and prepare care plans.

Acute Care / Infusion (20%) – Manage patients’ drug therapy, initiate and modify prescriptions, provide drug information to providers and patients.

Acute Care / Infusion (10%) – Counsel patients on drug therapy and device use, assist in selecting non‑prescription drugs.

Acute Care / Infusion (10%) – Provide associate and learner development, precept students and residents, and develop educational programs for pharmacy, nursing, and medical staff.

Acute Care / Infusion (10%) – Direct and guide pharmacy technicians and support personnel.

Ambulatory Care / Population Health (50%) – Manage drug therapy, produce individualized care plans, provide drug information.

Ambulatory Care / Population Health (20%) – Partner with patients and caregivers for disease prevention, advocacy, wellness, triage, referral, education, and self‑management.

Ambulatory Care / Population Health (10%) – Assist with guideline/policy development, participation in performance improvement initiatives.

Ambulatory Care / Population Health (10%) – Provide associate and learner development, precept students and residents.

Ambulatory Care / Population Health (10%) – Direct and guide pharmacy technicians and support personnel.

Retail (50%) – Review orders, dispense and compound medications, ensure appropriate labeling and billing procedures.

Retail (20%) – Counsel patients on drug therapy, device use, and non‑prescription drug selection.

Retail (10%) – Manage drug therapy, initiate and modify prescriptions in collaboration with providers.

Retail (10%) – Provide associate and learner development, precept students and residents.

Retail (10%) – Direct and guide pharmacy technicians and support personnel.

Medication Safety, Stewardship, & Utilization (55%) – Lead safety, stewardship, and utilization strategies, facilitate committees, develop policies promoting patient outcomes, and ensure compliance with national recommendations and regulatory standards.

Medication Safety, Stewardship, & Utilization (20%) – Provide associate and learner development, precept students and residents.

Medication Safety, Stewardship, & Utilization (10%) – Direct and guide pharmacy technicians and support personnel.

Medication Safety, Stewardship, & Utilization (5%) – Review provider orders and dispense medications in various pharmacy practice settings, ensuring compliance and proper labeling.

Medication Safety, Stewardship, & Utilization (5%) – Manage patients’ drug therapy, provide drug information across care settings.

Medication Safety, Stewardship, & Utilization (5%) – Counsel patients on drug therapy and device use across various care settings.
