Job Description SummaryDiagnoses and treats speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders, applying evidence‑based therapeutic techniques to help patients achieve communication goals and regain functional independence.
Essential Functions- Evaluates patients with varied diagnoses to determine developmental and functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations; identifies strengths and deficits, establishes goals, and develops individualized treatment plans that incorporate patient and family needs.
- Administers therapeutic treatment for patients with developmental delay or functional deficits, utilizing developmental activities and other treatment techniques to meet therapeutic goals and monitoring progress.
- Educates patients and families on treatment goals and provides instruction for home activities, evaluating ongoing compliance and understanding.
- Documents therapy sessions in compliance with hospital and accrediting association requirements; maintains administrative functions of caseload, including scheduling, charging, and submission of documentation.
- Communicates patient status and collaborates with physicians, third‑party payors, and other healthcare providers.
- Conducts speech‑language pathology educational programs; provides instruction to hospital staff, students, and community members; supervises Clinical Fellows and licensed speech aides.
Master’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology – required.
Licensure RequirementValid Ohio License in Speech Pathology – required.
Certifications- Certification in Speech Pathology from the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association, or eligibility for supervision during a fellowship experience – required.
- CPR certification, required.
Previous pediatric experience – preferred.
Physical RequirementsLifting and carrying up to 20 lbs; reaching overhead; use of computer and handling of medical equipment; basic hearing acuity and visual assessment required for effective therapy delivery.
