Position: Pharmacist - Operations - Riverside Methodist Hospital - Part-Time (32 hours per week) -

Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for pharmacist tasks, such as dispensing and compounding medication, counseling patients on medication and health subjects, interpreting prescriptions, managing patient drug therapy, and performing drug utilization. Pharmacists are expected to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team, possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and multitask as appropriate. Strong interpersonal skills, including effective mentorship, clear communication and collaboration, empathy toward patients and colleagues, and ability to build trust in professional relationships, are required to be successful in this role.

They collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other health‑care practitioners to provide safe, high‑quality, and cost‑effective drug therapy. Pharmacists may administer medications as applicable by state law and practice setting. Pharmacists will serve as preceptors for pharmacy students and pharmacy residents in their area of training and expertise.

Responsibilities And Duties
  • Acute Care / Infusion
    • 50%:
      Review provider orders, dispense & compound medications, ensure proper labeling, interpret prescriptions, prepare care plans, manage drug therapy, provide drug information, counsel patients, direct technicians.
    • 20%:
      Manage drug therapy, initiate/monitor/modifying prescriptions, provide drug information.
    • 10%:
      Counsel individuals on therapy & devices.
    • 10%:
      Associate & learner development, precepting students and residents.
    • 10%:
      Direct and guide pharmacy technicians and support personnel.
  • Ambulatory Care / Population Health
    • 50%:
      Manage drug therapy with provider collaboration, prepare care plans, provide drug information.
    • 20%:
      Partner with patients & caregivers, patient education, triage, referral, self‑management.
    • 10%:
      Assist with guideline/policy development, performance improvement initiatives.
    • 10%:
      Associate & learner development, precepting students and residents.
    • 10%:
      Direct and guide pharmacy technicians and support personnel.
  • Retail
    • 50%:
      Review provider orders, dispense, ensure labeling & billing procedures.
    • 20%:
      Counsel on therapy & devices, assist with non‑prescription drug selection.
    • 10%:
      Manage drug therapy, initiate/monitor prescriptions.
    • 10%:
      Associate & learner development, precepting students and residents.
    • 10%:
      Direct and guide technicians and support personnel.
  • Medication Safety, Stewardship & Utilization
    • 55%:
      Lead safety, stewardship, and utilization strategies; facilitate committees, develop policies, identify opportunities for change.
    • 20%:
      Associate & learner development.
    • 10%:
      Direct and guide technicians and support personnel.
    • 5%:
      Review provider orders, dispense, ensure labeling, prescribe care plans, ensure products are dispensed without suboptimal integrity.
    • 5%:
      Manage drug therapy, provide drug information.
    • 5%:
      Counsel individuals on therapy & devices.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Registered Pharmacist, Board of Pharmacy Specialties (RPH)
  • Current Ohio pharmacist license
Additional

Job Description
  • BS or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current Ohio pharmacist license.
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Practice residency or equivalent hospital experience.
  • Pharmacology & Therapeutics for all age groups.
  • Aseptic Technique and drug literature review.
  • Previous hospital pharmacy experience.
Minimum Qualifications And Specialized Knowledge
  • Basic Life Support Certification (current or obtained during orientation).
  • ASHP accredited residency or equivalent pharmacy practice experience.
  • Pharmacy Board Certifications or other certifications.
  • Advanced-level degree in healthcare field.
  • Collaborative practice experience.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (may be required).
  • Pharmacokinetic drug dosing experience.
  • Drug therapy management experience.
