Job Description SummaryThis position is responsible for administrative and clinical duties delegated by the physician. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting physician with patient care in compliance with the Ohio Administrative Code. Responsibilities include routine clinical and administrative tasks necessary to support the practice, varying by office size and specialty.
Responsibilities and Duties- Facilitate efficient patient flow, including preparation for visits and providing services as directed by providers.
- Document clinical encounters using Care Connect EMR.
- Perform administrative duties that keep patient information current, including EMR basket monitoring.
- Maintain and clean the environment, work area, and equipment; report malfunctions.
- Communicate with patients and customers in a respectful and caring manner.
- Collaborate with the health care team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Collect, monitor, and report patient data and patient needs as directed.
- Maintain documentation guidelines for chargeable items/services.
- Monitor processes for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Engage in quality improvement activities and recommend operational enhancements.
- Continuously study professional field to maintain competence and skills.
- Complete required continuous training and education, including department‑specific requirements.
- Promote and advocate for patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives; act as a role model.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert/resource in quality, performance improvement, and EMR (e.g., EPIC Super User).
- Oversee patient flow and education as per provider policy and licensure.
- Develop and support standard work processes and necessary customizations.
- Act as a clinical preceptor and train new staff.
- Ensure compliance with scope of practice.
- High School Graduate or GED (Required)
- BLS – Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
- Completion of a formal medical assistant program or one of the following:
High School Career Tech MA program, 1+ years equivalent experience as an MA in an ambulatory setting (clinical assessment may be required), Military Medic training, or Paramedic/EMT‑P training. - Demonstrated admission or clearing skills for a medical assistant.
- 1–3 years equivalent experience working as an MA in an ambulatory setting.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Shift: Day
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40
