Scope of PositionUnder the direction of a pharmacist and in coordination with other technicians, the Pharmacy Technician IV may prepare oral, topical, and intravenous medications for dispensing to patients, make scheduled deliveries to appointed nursing units, assist pharmacists with medication order entry into the pharmacy computer system, maintain stock levels of medications to avoid delays in service to patients, demonstrate ability to work as a member of a team, serve as functional and technical expert in a given area or specialty, lead and direct technical activities in that specialized area, anticipate and solve complex issues, act as a positive role model, assist with and/or lead productivity management, training, and mentoring of new staff, special projects, and committee meetings, and comply with all hospital and department rules, regulations and requirements.
PositionSummary
In addition to performing all duties of a Pharmacy Technician III, this position coordinates daily workflow, organizes daily assignments, provides overall support to the operation of the department, provides quality assessment and audit activities for the pharmacy area, assists the licensed pharmacist, leads the preparation and packaging of medications, distributes medications, supplies, and equipment, maintains proper inventory levels, keeps appropriate records and documentation, supports initiatives of area managers, assists with assessing Pharmacy Technicians’ performance for annual appraisals, orients new staff, may cover additional Manager responsibilities in the Manager’s absence or if a vacancy occurs.
Minimum Qualifications- High School graduate or equivalent
- Certified Pharmacy Technician
- 4 years of relevant experience required; 6 or more years preferred
