Rehabilitation team members are licensed or certified professionals (physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, social workers or therapeutic recreation specialists) who work within a specific team structure to offer inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation services. These services are offered at the acute-care hospital, the acute inpatient rehabilitation facility (Dodd Hall), or outpatient service sites to patients with disorders and conditions associated primarily with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, or other neurogenic disorders, orthopedic problems, burns, amputations, or chronic pain.

The speech language pathologist will also provide specialized treatments to help patients explore and identify productive avocational interests. Treatments include assessment of interests, introduction to methods used to explore resources post‑discharge (such as use of the internet, identification of local organizations, methods to inquire about resources), exposure to local organizations, and education materials to maximize patient post‑discharge planning. The physiotherapist is expected to be the contact for the community link and be a liaison for patients, staff, and consumers of Rehabilitation Services.

Team members assess patients and establish plans of care together, provide a wide variety of treatment techniques, provide education and support to families, facilitate continuing care planning, evaluate quality of services, and participate in outcomes management activities. Although team members report directly to a team leader, they are also responsible to each other, to those they supervise (rehab assistants and aides), and to other participants in patient care activities, including attending and resident physicians, nurses, their support staff, and Patient Care Resource Managers to assure coordination of services and programs.

• Master's Degree in Speech Pathology.
• License to practice speech pathology in the State of Ohio.
• Valid Certificate of Clinical Competency issued by ASHA or currently completing a Clinical Fellowship Year.

Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
