As part of the perioperative team, Surgical Technologists perform the operating room technician and scrub tech duties for a variety of surgical procedures. In addition to these tasks, they assist with intraoperative and postoperative responsibilities.
Job Description- Performs technical skills related to interoperative patient care, including the scrub role in various surgical procedures and routine unit tasks.
- Provides emergency care measures as appropriate and assists in meeting the patient's emotional needs. Follows universal precautions, safe handling guidelines, and all infection control standards.
- Maintains safety and security of self and others, ensuring a clean and organized perioperative unit.
- Promotes a positive demeanor to staff, families, and patients, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Works as unclassified professional staff under the direct supervision of a registered nurse and general supervision of Perioperative Managers.
- Completes tasks efficiently without compromising quality of care, fulfills hospital continuing education and certification requirements, and upholds departmental goals and objectives.
- Cultivates continuous improvement and demonstrates career growth and development.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Completion of a formal Surgical Technology Training Program or equivalent.
- Preferred prior experience as a Surgical Technologist in an operating room.
