OverviewSpeech Language Pathologist - IRP role within Internal Resource Pool (IRP) Rehabilitation team. Services are provided primarily to the James Cancer Hospital CCCT and UH acute-care hospital, with possible assignments to the acute-inpatient rehabilitation facility (Dodd Hall). The team serves patients with disorders related to stroke, neurogenic disorders, brain injury, orthopedic problems, burns, amputations, chronic pain, and related conditions. The therapy staff report to the rehabilitation manager and work within a continuous performance improvement environment.
Responsibilities- Assess patients and establish plans of care as part of a team approach to inpatient rehabilitation.
- Provide a wide variety of treatment techniques and modalities to support patient recovery.
- Educate and support patients and families; facilitate continuing care planning.
- Evaluate quality of services and participate in outcomes management activities.
- Coordinate with other care team members, including attending and resident physicians, nurses, support staff, Case Managers, and Patient Care Resource Managers to ensure integrated care.
- Adhere to the Intensive Caring values of the organization in interactions with others.
- Licensed or certified in speech-language pathology and meet the educational/certification requirements (masters degree from an accredited institution).
- Typically 1–2 years of experience in a medical setting is preferred.
- National Database of Practitioners clearance is required for licensed professionals.
- Internal Resource Pool (IRP) Rehabilitation team members work within a team structure to provide inpatient rehabilitation services.
