- Support the monthly close process, ensuring financial data is complete, accurate, and reported on time.
- Prepare and review journal entries related to cash activity, accruals, and balance sheet adjustments.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple property and corporate accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Monitor high-volume transaction activity including rent collections, vendor payments, security deposit activity, and owner distributions.
- Manage cash balances across property accounts, coordinating funding needs, intercompany transfers, and treasury activities such as ACH payments and wire transfers.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations including cash, clearing accounts, security deposits, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and intercompany balances.
- Review monthly financial statements for assigned properties, analyze profit and loss statements, and perform variance analysis against budget and prior periods.
- Investigate unusual trends or fluctuations and collaborate with operations teams to identify root causes.
- Maintain organized reconciliation schedules and documentation to support internal and external audit requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reconciliation efficiency, and internal controls related to cash and disbursements.
- Serve as a key resource for property management and operations teams regarding cash activity, banking processes, and financial reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate, property management, or multi-entity environments.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end close processes.
- Experience with bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.
