The Controller is a hands‑on finance leader, who will partner with the CEO, and be responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the company’s financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls. This role is critical in supporting a private‑equity ownership structure, ensuring disciplined close processes, strong cost accounting, and reliable reporting to ownership, lenders, and executive leadership.
The ideal candidate brings deep manufacturing, retail or print‑production accounting experience, thrives in PE‑backed environments, and can balance operational detail with strategic financial insight.
Key Responsibilities- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process with consistent timelines and accuracy
- Prepare GAAP‑compliant financial statements and supporting schedules
- Deliver clear, concise monthly reporting packages for CEO and PE partners
- Support lender reporting, covenant compliance, and audit requirements
- Oversee cost accounting for print manufacturing, including job costing, inventory valuation, WIP, and variance analysis
- Partner with operations to understand production drivers, waste, throughput, and margin performance
- Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs to improve gross margin visibility and profitability
- Design, implement, and maintain strong internal controls appropriate for a PE‑backed organization
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax filings, and regulatory requirements
- Lead external audits, reviews, and tax coordination with third‑party advisors
- Monitor and manage cash flow, AR/AP cycles, inventory turns, and working capital metrics
- Improve forecasting accuracy and liquidity visibility
- Support pricing, credit, and collection strategies aligned with retail customer dynamics
- Own the general ledger and accounting systems (ERP experience strongly preferred)
- Drive process improvements to scale the finance function as the business grows
- Improve close efficiency, reporting quality, and data reliability
- Lead and develop the accounting team (staff accountants, and AP/AR)
- Act as a business partner to Operations, Sales, and Supply Chain
- Support CEO with ad hoc analysis, M&A integration, and strategic initiatives

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management
- Proven experience in a PE‑backed or highly structured reporting environment
- Advanced Excel skills and payroll processing
- CPA or CMA designation
- Experience supporting audits, lender reporting, and PE board reporting
- Exposure to multi‑site manufacturing or complex job costing
- Prior experience in manufacturing, printing, packaging, or similar production environment
- Experience in retail
- Prior involvement in ERP implementations or system upgrades
- High attention to detail with strong ownership mentality
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically, and maintain confidentiality
- Strong communication skills with non‑finance leaders
- Excellent leadership skills
- Results‑oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
