Mechanical Project Engineer

Mission Hires is hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead capital equipment and process‑improvement projects at a South Columbus, OH manufacturing facility. You will plan, design, and implement new installations and upgrades, integrating mechanical systems with automation, instrumentation, and controls. You’ll manage scope, bids, contractors, budgets, schedules, and outages; coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, EHS, Vendors, and Purchasing; support startup; and create training and operating procedures.

Compensation: $85,000–$120,000 base + 10% bonus + paid relocation.

• Lead mechanical design and mechanical-controls integration for plant projects
• Select equipment and develop system layouts for new installs and upgrades
• Define project scope, prepare bid packages, and evaluate/award contractor work
• Oversee contractors and vendors to ensure safe, on-time, on-budget execution
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and spending tracking
• Coordinate plant outages and support equipment commissioning and start-up
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Purchasing, EHS, and vendors
• Communicate project plans/status to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Develop training materials and operating procedures for new/modified systems

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering field
• 5+ years of capital project engineering experience (chemical or manufacturing preferred)
• Proven experience integrating mechanical systems with automation/instrumentation/controls
• Strong problem-solving and hands‑on project management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively across cross-functional teams
• Willingness to work on-site in Columbus, OH (paid relocation available)
