Structural Steel Section Head, Transportation Engineer 4, Office of Materials Management, PN
What You Will Do:
- Management of the structural steel program.
- Management of QPL/APL with Laboratory staff.
- Review of shop drawings and make decisions for steel fabrication.
- Work with Districts and Industry with regards to steel products.
- Visit facilities and projects to assist with District/contractor needs.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively with ODOT partners.
- Self‑motivated and able to complete tasks on their own.
- Detail oriented with review of plans and shop drawings.
- Knowledgeable with regards to structural steel related materials and welding applications.

- Licensed as a registered professional engineer by the Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 years of experience as a group or project leader or supervisor providing work direction and training to employees engaged in engineering projects, or 2 years of experience in managing engineering research projects (applicable only to staff specialist positions). If assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to and inspect project sites, must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Or licensed as a registered professional engineer by the Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 months of experience as a Transportation Engineer 3 (85643). If assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to and inspect project sites, must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.
