Entry Level Substation Civil Engineer – WSP, U.S.
This OpportunityWSP is searching for an Entry Level Substation Civil Engineer for our Freeport, Maine office. Additional locations considered:
Augusta, ME;
Foxborough, MA;
Syracuse, NY;
Ann Arbor, MI;
Columbus, OH.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.
- All aspects of electrical civil design including permitting support, site design, foundation design, structure design, and control building design.
- Responsible for learning and implementing CAD knowledge, client standards, and WSP procedures, collaborating on design issues, and seeking guidance.
- Preparation of drawing packages to satisfy client and code requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.
- BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering) degree from an accredited college.
- 0‑1 years of experience.
- Ability to independently create calculation packages.
- Mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, or ability to complete the FE exam within one year.
- Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
- Three (3) or more years of civil design experience.
- Experience in electric utility substation design (15kV through 500kV) is a plus.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, RISA, Match
CAD, LPile, and Civil 3D. - Geotechnical background is a plus.
- Professional Engineering license (PE) or ability to obtain licensure and ability to obtain licensure in multiple states.
- Ability to successfully participate in multiple projects concurrently and manage budgets and schedules.
- Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

CompensationExpected Salary (all locations): $75,000 – $83,000. WSP reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
