Job Description

As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in preparing bid documents and estimates by accurately reading blueprints, specifications, and other technical documents. You will work closely with architects and other professionals, ensuring all projects adhere to current safety codes and construction regulations. This position requires you to maintain an up-to-date library of bids, engineering firms, and trade contractors, coordinating pre-bid meetings and communicating effectively with key contractors throughout the bidding process.

Responsibilities

+ Accurately read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents to prepare bid documents and estimates.

+ Stay updated with safety codes and improvements in construction practices.

+ Navigate and understand building codes and site-related regulations.

+ Prepare preliminary budget forecasts for preconstruction design teams based on schematic or progress designs.

+ Collaborate closely with architects and other internal and external professionals throughout projects.

+ Maintain an organized file or library of bids, engineering firms, trade contractors/suppliers, and material brochures.

+ Coordinate and conduct contractor pre-bid meetings onsite or online.

+ Communicate effectively with key contractors during bids and prepare bid documents with the preconstruction design team and external engineers.

+ Evaluate offers to purchase by analyzing site requirements, additions, and costing changes.

+ Resolve cost differences by analyzing and collecting relevant information.

+ Identify potential value engineering and cost-saving options.

+ Write up and present budgets, reports, and project plans for supervisory review.

+ Schedule meetings with clients, site managers, and staff as required.

+ Process paperwork and travel to building sites as needed.

+ Monitor construction processes to ensure compliance with project plans and budgets.

Essential Skills

+ 3+ years of construction estimating experience.

+ Commercial or industrial project experience.

+ Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects.

+ Knowledge of the latest building codes and site-related regulations.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in commercial construction, estimation, preconstruction, bidding, and construction management.

Work Environment

The work environment is dynamic and collaborative, involving interaction with architects, engineers, and construction professionals. You will be expected to travel to building sites and conduct meetings both onsite and online. The role requires effective communication and the ability to navigate technical documents and building codes efficiently.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Worthington, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $5000.00/hr.
