We're looking for a high‑energy,
Piping Engineer to join our Building Mechanical team and help deliver solutions to our clients. The position can be filled remotely or hybrid out of our Advanced Manufacturing offices (Pittsburgh, PA; Appleton, WI; Greenville, SC). A Piping Engineer at Jacobs works on the design of state‑of‑the‑art industrial and commercial facilities, and is part of a team working on projects that help clients succeed today while developing and capitalizing on emerging technologies.

As a Piping Engineer working at Jacobs, you will be under the direction and supervision of a senior project manager, coordinate the design and drafting of piping discipline tasks for a given project, monitor the progress of the work and the performance of the design team.

Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of procedures and technical concepts within the piping discipline and the ability to navigate and apply relevant codes to piping design projects
  • Perform piping systems concept development.
  • Generate piping design calculations including equipment sizing and pipe sizing calculations.
  • Create P&’s and Block Flow Diagrams.
  • Perform equipment selections.
  • Generate specifications for systems and equipment.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with project team members, contractors, clients and other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical and process to develop designs.
  • Perform static pipe stress analysis.
  • Check drawings developed by project team members.
  • Lead a design team within the piping discipline and take responsibility for their portion of the discipline’s scope, schedule and budget.
  • Support work for/in other offices and other countries, which may include travel.
  • Organize work and delegate work to others.
  • Work independently and as part of a design team consisting of local and remote team members.
  • Check and perform quality assurance reviews of drawings completed by junior engineers and designers.
  • Formulate design criteria to be used in the development of project design specifications and drawings.
  • Mentor junior staff.
Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 12+ years’ experience in piping design for industrial and commercial facilities.
  • Professional Engineering License.
  • Strong written and verbal skill set.
  • Ability to perform field/site visits which may include the need to climb ladders.
  • Ability to travel (estimated travel time is 10%–20% based on project needs).
  • Adaptability to work within a fast‑paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to follow lead a building mechanical team on a project and collaborate with other discipline team members remotely.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Software experience in Revit, Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Pipe‑FLO.
