WSP is currently initiating a search for an Entry Level Substation Civil Engineer for our Freeport, Maine office. The following locations will also be considered:
Augusta, ME;
Foxborough, MA;
Syracuse, NY;
Ann Arbor, MI; and Columbus, OH.

• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• Be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.
• Handle all aspects of electrical civil design including permitting support, site design, foundation design, structure design, and control building design.
• Learn, understand, and implement CAD knowledge; learn client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards and expectations; be responsible for knowing and following POWER's standards, procedures, and processes; collaborate on design issues; and seek guidance from those with more experience.
• Prepare drawing packages to satisfy client and code requirements.

• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
• BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering) degree from an accredited college.
• 0-1 years of experience.
• Ability to independently create calculation packages.
• Mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail.
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, or ability to complete the FE exam within one year.
• A strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

• Three (3) or more years of civil design experience.
• Experience in electric utility substation design (15kV through 500kV) is a plus.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, RISA, Match
  
  CAD, LPile, and Civil 3D is beneficial.
• Geotechnical background is a plus.
• Professional Engineering license (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure and ability to obtain licensure in multiple states.
• Ability to successfully participate in multiple projects concurrently and manage budgets and schedules.

Expected Salary (all locations): $75,000 - $83,000
