Automation Engineer - Manufacturing

A client is seeking to hire an Automation Engineer to work onsite at their Hilliard, OH location (full-time / direct-hire position with salary $115k-$135k range). This company manufactures innovative stormwater and septic wastewater solutions, including pipes, septic tanks, water filters, and other products.

• 5+ years of experience with automation and controls systems (manufacturing, material handling, etc.)
• Knowledge & understanding of PLCs (Allen Bradley preferred)
• Experience with capital projects and/or project management abilities
• Hands-on robotics experience (Fanuc preferred but not required)
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Associate Degree with equivalent experience

The Automation Engineer supports the development, integration, and implementation of automation and control systems. This role leverages a strong technical foundation to design, deploy, and optimize automated solutions that improve throughput, quality, and safety while simplifying operations for plant teams.

• Manage automation projects to meet schedule, scope, and financial targets
• Develop business cases and documentation for new capital funding requests
• Lead capital projects using disciplined project management methodologies
• Train plant personnel on new automation technologies
• Support plant integration initiatives and provide post implementation assistance
• Partner with maintenance teams to ensure reliable, continuous operations
• Manage internal and external project resources, including vendors and suppliers
• Communicate effectively at all organizational levels, including presentations
• Oversee multiple complex projects simultaneously
• Align cross functional teams to project goals, charters, and success metrics
• Apply structured problem solving tools to resolve technical challenges
• Maintain strong vendor relationships and track supplier performance
• Coordinate stakeholder alignment across Safety, Finance, IT, and Plant Operations
