Position Overview

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will play a key leadership role in supporting and delivering complex geotechnical investigations, analytical evaluations, and design solutions for a wide variety of projects. The position includes technical oversight, client development responsibilities, mentorship of junior staff, and direct involvement in driving regional business growth.

The ideal candidate brings 10-15 years of geotechnical engineering experience
, holds a Professional Engineer (PE) license
, has a Master's degree preferred
, and possesses an established book of business to support expansion efforts within the Columbus market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee geotechnical investigations, including subsurface exploration, field coordination, and laboratory testing review.
  • Prepare engineering analyses, design calculations, and technical reports for earth retention systems, deep foundations, stability assessments, grouting programs, and reinforced earth structures.
  • Conduct analytical modeling to support geotechnical evaluations and design recommendations.
  • Support business development initiatives by building and maintaining strong client relationships and leveraging an existing professional network.
  • Prepare project proposals, fee estimates, scopes of work, and contribute to strategic planning for regional growth.
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers and project team members to ensure project quality, technical accuracy, and professional development.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, cost‑effective solutions tailored to client and project requirements.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and professionally with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain detailed field documentation and support safe, compliant execution of project activities.
Skills & Experience
  • 10-15 years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience in consulting or related environments.
  • PE license required
  • Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
  • Strong expertise in soil mechanics, analytical modeling, geotechnical design methods, and subsurface investigation practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare high‑quality technical reports, recommendations, and design documentation.
