Overview
City of Columbus – Division of Water Reclamation – Southerly Water Reclamation Plant (SWRP). Water Reclamation Plant Supervisor I – full‑time position under general supervision. Supervises employees and participates in operation of water reclamation treatment, biosolids processing, and disposal equipment.
Responsibilities- Inspect and monitor operation of equipment such as air filters, chlorine indicators, and pumps; report need for repairs to designated authority.
- Enact flow controls and change solids operations based on demands and operational needs.
- Unload, monitor, and change chemical feed based on operational needs.
- Collect samples and monitor auto samplers; run field tests such as titration tests on chlorine levels in discharge.
- Supervise bringing tanks and processes online to respond to wet weather events.
- Maintain records on chemical usage and storage.
- Complete and maintain logs of operations to make operating decisions.
- Perform minor equipment maintenance including lubrication, cleaning, and painting.
- Complete performance appraisals; recommend first‑line disciplinary action for subordinates.
- Assist in planning daily work schedule; assign tasks to workers based on process needs.
- Operate a computerized SCADA system to monitor and report information about processes.
- Enforce safety rules and processes; clean and maintain order in the chemical building or storage area and workstation area.
- Conduct training sessions for subordinates.
Must possess a valid Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) State of Ohio Class II, III, or IV Wastewater Operator certificate for wastewater treatment works and a valid driver’s license. Pre‑employment drug screening and BCI&I background check are required if selected.
Applicants holding an equivalent operator certification in another state and eligible to obtain reciprocity from the Ohio EPA will be considered. Successful attainment of the appropriate Ohio EPA operator certificate is required at the time of a Minimum Qualifications review.
Shift Schedule- Tuesday‑Wednesday (10:45 pm–6:45 am)
- Thursday‑Friday (2:45 pm–10:45 pm)
- Saturday (6:45 am–2:45 pm)
$32.56 – $51.08 hourly.
