Position: Transportation Manager 3, Office of Materials Management, PN 20050527

Transportation Manager 3, Office of Materials Management, PN  You will:

  • Provide asphalt field support for districts and contractors including plant inspection, calibration, and troubleshooting including overnight travel.
  • Prepare professional computerized records, reports, forms, and communications.
  • Serves as asphalt field operations manager for the asphalt program.
  • Supervises employees engaged in asphalt field operations.
  • Participates in national & statewide focused research and development of new and ongoing asphalt materials including attending meetings and conferences.

  • Well versed in the OH DOT asphalt program including specifications and procedures related to asphalt placement, plants, quality assurance, mix designs, mix types, and acceptances.
  • Well versed in asphalt mix plant set-ups and control systems and placement equipment.
  • Able to communicate in a professional manner on behalf of the Department regardless of the situation.
  • Able to utilize computers to develop training materials and forms to be utilized in the asphalt program.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
  • 12 months of training or 12 months of experience in supervisory principles & techniques or management which included responsibility for developing work plans involving estimates of time, personnel &/or equipment or materials required to complete projects.
  • Requirement for equipment maintenance & repair positions: 4 years of training or 4 years of experience in equipment maintenance & repair (automotive mechanics &/or auto body repair), associated safety practices, and operating associated equipment.
  • Requirement for bridge maintenance & repair positions: 4 years of training or 4 years of experience in bridge maintenance & repair, associated safety practices, and operating associated equipment.
  • Requirement for route marking positions: 4 years of training or 4 years of experience in route marking, associated safety practices, and operating associated equipment.
  • Requirement for highway maintenance positions: 4 years of training or 4 years of experience in highway maintenance, associated safety practices, and operating associated equipment.
  • Requirement for construction positions: 4 years of training or 4 years of experience in construction, associated safety practices, and operating equipment or knowledge of how equipment is used on construction jobs.
  • Requirement for roadway construction materials testing & control positions: 4 years of training or 4 years of experience in roadway construction materials testing & control, associated safety practices, and operating equipment or knowledge of how equipment is used in construction materials testing & control.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
  • Note:

    If the position will involve operating motorized equipment regulated by Ohio Revised Code sections 4506.1, 4506.03, and 4506.12, the applicant must also have a valid commercial driver license; if required to operate a state vehicle, must have a valid driver’s license.
