About

the Role

Senior Telecommunications Engineers work on various projects as assigned by a Department Manager or Lead Engineer. This position will play a role in the entire design process including but not limited to:

  • Preliminary assessments
  • Concept creation
  • Internal and external problem resolution
  • Drawing and specification production
  • Customer and vendor accessibility
  • Being the EoR for designs
  • Providing coverage for project leads
  • Depending on bandwidth, this person may also lead projects

The Senior Telecommunications Engineer may work on several concurrent projects and will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the BIM designers in preparation of engineering drawings
  • Create or modify DIV 27 specifications
  • Conduct site visits
  • Review technical documents
  • Mentor other team members
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Sign and seal telecommunications design packages
  • Work with the lead engineer and/or department manager to identify processes that make the department run more efficiently
Required Qualifications
  • Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college
  • Minimum 8 years of experience actively designing or leading designs for Telecommunications structured cabling systems
  • Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 and its application to telecommunications structured cabling systems
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam
  • Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers and clients
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Familiarity with responding to RFPs
  • Experience in providing quality assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others
  • Experience with startup and commissioning of telecommunications systems
  • Experience in creating a budget for a project
  • Experience in creating and maintaining a project schedule
  • Experience in identifying and mitigating company risk
  • PE license (multiple PE licenses are preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years of telecommunications design experience in data centers
  • Experience working on other low‑voltage systems, including security, audio/visual, and wireless
  • Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software platforms
  • Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls systems and security systems
  • Knowledge of CSI or AIA specification writing procedures
  • Credential as an RCDD
