Company & ClientA dedicated team of experienced consultants committed to delivering high-quality, robust solutions for the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries whose expertise spans Engineering (Process, Automation, Facilities), Capital Project Management of large/complex projects and programs, Commissioning Qualification Validation, and GMP Compliance services are looking to hire an Automation Engineer to work 100% on site at a pharma facility near Columbus OH.
Job DescriptionThe Automation Engineer will play a key role in supporting a major client project in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector. This position will be responsible for delivering end-to-end automation solutions, infrastructure readiness, system integration, and ongoing support for process automation within regulated manufacturing environments. The focus will be on collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and ensuring seamless integration and validation of automation systems such as SCADA, MES, and batch processes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support the deployment, integration, and maintenance of automation systems (e.g., Thin Manager, Rockwell, SQL Server)
- Oversee infrastructure readiness and manage network & IT provisioning for automation platforms
- Develop, document, and implement automated processes including batch, SCADA, and MES interfaces
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams, including IT, Engineering, and external vendors to support project goals
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues relating to control systems, networking, and process instrumentation
- Maintain complete project documentation in accordance with compliance, validation, and quality standards
- Deliver validation support for all phases of automation system implementation, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP, FDA guidelines)
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of modular and scalable automation solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or related discipline
- 10+ years of automation engineering experience in large‑scale manufacturing (preferably food, beverage, chemical, or pharmaceuticals)
- Hands‑on experience with Thin Manager client/server deployments, Rockwell Automation platforms, and SQL Server integration
- Proven track record managing system integration projects, preferably in regulated/GMP environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills across SCADA, MES, network, and process control disciplines
- Experience working with cross‑functional and external vendor teams in a project‑oriented environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to maintain comprehensive documentation
- Knowledge of validation and quality requirements related to pharmaceutical or highly regulated manufacturing is an asset
- Base Salary: $150,000 per annum
- Open to considering both W2 (employee) and 1099 (independent contractor) engagement models

- Candidate must have proven background in end‑to‑end automation, with focus on infrastructure and validated project environments.
- Experience in industries with regulated processes (pharma, biotech, chemicals, food & beverage) is essential
- Candidate must be able to coordinate with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including managing vendors and internal client teams.
