LocationColumbus, Ohio (with travel as required).
Key Responsibilities- Collect, process and interpret geotechnical and geospatial datasets for hazard analyses.
- Support geotechnical and geohazard assessments for critical infrastructure systems.
- Build and maintain basic data workflows and tools to improve efficiency, quality, and reproducibility.
- Collaborate with engineers, GIS specialists, data scientists and software developers in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, and data summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay current with best practices in geotechnical engineering and geohazard management to enhance project outcomes.
- Perform related duties as assigned in support of broader project goals.
- B.S. degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or Geosciences.
- 1 – 3 years of applicable experience (including internship, research or project experience).
- Foundational knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles.
- Familiarity with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS), geospatial data handling and data analysis tools (Python).
- Exposure to machine learning techniques and their applications in engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methods in a fast-paced environment.
- Master’s in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Experience with remote sensing technologies for geohazard monitoring.
- Familiarity with cloud-based computing and data storage solutions (e.g., Azure).
- Experience deploying AI models for predictive geohazard assessments.
- The role is full time and permanent.
