Job SummaryDeBra-Kuempel is seeking an HVAC Controls (BAS) Engineer for the EMCOR Services Automated Controls division located in Columbus, Ohio. This role will support projects in commercial and industrial markets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Attend project turnover meetings with the sales and project team.
- Design building automation systems and create project submittals/shop drawings.
- Identify gaps or ambiguity in the project and submit RFIs as required.
- Establish and maintain unique customer standards in design/built and plan/spec markets.
- Mentor new employees and assist in their growth.
- Write control sequences and coordinate design intent with programmers.
- Provide operational and technical support to field operations and subcontractors.
- Obtain field markups and revise shop drawings with changes for owner records.
- Maintain backups of all project documentation, including record drawings, on construction management software.
- Develop strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Engineering Manager/Project Manager with recommendations for resolution.
- Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs.
- Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in related engineering/technology field required; bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
- Combination of verifiable DDC specific training and two or more years of experience considered if lacking a degree.
- DDC or PLC design experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of low voltage electrical wiring.
- Experience in engineering, design, or installation/service of HVAC systems.
- Strong understanding of commercial electrical, HVAC, and control theory fundamentals.
- Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); advanced spreadsheet experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Visio, and other electrical/technical/construction programs.
- Familiarity with building architecture and computer networks.
- Experience with third‑party equipment integration over protocols such as BACnet/Modbus.
- Programming experience is a plus.

- 10% local travel may be required for customer site visits and progress meetings.
Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English and collaborate with customers, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors, and other contractor organizations.
