Available for January 1, 2026, IU Columbus School of Nursing is seeking to fill multiple non-tenure track appointments at the rank of Lecturer or Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor. Rank will be dependent on qualifications and experience. The position is a 10-month teaching assignment. The initial appointment will be for three years, with opportunity for annual reappointment.

Responsibilities

Lecturer Responsibilities

Lecturers are responsible for teaching, and for research and service that support teaching. The Lecturer rank is responsible for teaching clinical and/or didactic courses in the undergraduate program and other courses as appropriate. Specific functions and assignments are outlined by Assistant Dean. Responsibilities include teaching nursing students in accordance with area or graduate preparation and/or professional experience; evaluating students in accordance with the course competencies and requirements;

assuming Course Leader responsibilities as needed; participating in university and/or community service in support of teaching; mentoring new faculty members as needed; and participating in professional development.

Clinical Professor (Assistant or Associate) Responsibilities

Clinical appointments are those in which the primary duties are teaching and service, including providing professional service in the clinical setting. Clinical teaching assignments may be in healthcare settings such as area hospitals therefore recent clinical experience in the area of teaching responsibilities is preferred. Teach undergraduate nursing courses (didactic and clinical) including clinical supervision in hospitals and community settings. Develop and evaluate course and clinical learning experiences;

precept and mentor students. Participate in curriculum review and program assessment. Engage in service to the school (committee work, community services, advising) and clinical/community partnerships. Contribute to clinical scholarship (e.g. teaching innovations, quality improvement, projects, presentations).

Qualifications
  • For Clinical position:
    Ph.D. or terminal degree in related field is required.
  • For Lecturer position:
    Master’s degree is required.
  • Teaching experience for initial appointment is 1-3 years at the undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional level, is preferred.
  • Good interpersonal and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within team.
  • Candidates must be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana.
