Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to graduate and medical education through teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development. Participate in departmental and institutional service, including committee work and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across the OSUCCC – James, including basic scientists, clinicians, and translational researchers.
- Develop and lead an independent, externally funded research program in medical oncology or cancer genetics. Publish impactful research in peer‑reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
PhD or MD/PhD required; considerable post‑doctoral experience in basic research required; considerable experience in oncology required; proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in peer‑reviewed journals preferred; understanding of key components of grant writing and obtaining funding in support of research required; experience with administration of funded research required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre‑employment physical including a drug screen.

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute expanded in December 2014 to become the 3rd largest cancer hospital in the U.S. The 398‑bed state‑of‑the‑art hospital has seen remarkable clinical growth and a robust research portfolio. The Ohio State University is currently seeking faculty at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor rank for a variety of roles in basic and translational research.
ClinicalFaculty
Persons with titles of assistant professor‑clinical, associate professor‑clinical and professor‑clinical. These faculty obtain an MD, PhD or other terminal degree, are not eligible for tenure, and are appointed for terms of three to five years. Their principal career focus is delivery of exemplary clinical care and may include teaching and/or research.
Tenure‑Track FacultyPersons with titles of assistant professor, associate professor or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty hold a PhD, MD or other terminal degree. Their primary focus centers on research, service and teaching; those with MD or MD/PhD may also be involved in clinical care.
Research FacultyPersons with titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor or research professor. These faculty hold a PhD or other terminal degree. They are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years, with principal focus on research.
