Position OverviewThe Center for Aviation Studies at The Ohio State University invites applications for an exciting full‑time, nontenure track‑‑ appointment in multipilot jet aircraft flight and flight simulator instruction. This position presents a unique opportunity for experienced aviation professionals to transition their industry expertise into a dynamic academic environment while helping prepare the next generation of professional pilots for advanced flight operations.
This is a non‑flying position. The successful candidate will play a critical role in teaching and course development within the Center for Aviation Studies, emphasizing gas‑turbine–powered aircraft and the operational, systems, and crew coordination challenges inherent in multi‑pilot jet operations.
The role may involve teaching Part 141 ground schools throughout the academic year, including summer, and coordinating a dedicated laboratory course conducted in a Boeing 737 MAX Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD).
Performance Objectives- Teach up to eight courses per year, equivalent to three credit hours per course.
- Develop a robust, modernized jet sequence curriculum centered on jet aircraft systems and crew resource management, using technology.
- Deliver in‑person teaching in both lecture‑based format and experiential lab settings for flight training.
- Coordinate simulator schedules and serve as primary point of contact for students in the simulation labs.
- Valid FAA ATP/CTP certificate (or military equivalent) with at least 10 years of experience in industry as a line pilot, standards check airman, or simulator instructor.
- Current CFI (with instrument rating) or an AGI/IGI rating.
- Master's degree in aviation or a closely‑related discipline.
- Professional approach to development of SOPs and workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to or effort in teaching that reflects Ohio State’s Shared Values.
- Leadership and collaboration in an academic setting, with emphasis on teaching.
- Teaching or training experience, particularly in higher education and course development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The final offer will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Salary is negotiated by the Center Director and may vary. Ohio State provides a comprehensive benefits package. The university will not sponsor work visas for this position.
