Job Title:

Jet Aircraft Classroom and Simulation Lecturer

Department:

Engineering | Center for Aviation Studies

The Center for Aviation Studies () at The Ohio State University invites applications for an exciting full‑time, nontenure track‑‑ appointment in multipilot jet aircraft flight and flight simulator instruction. This position presents a unique opportunity for experienced aviation professionals to transition their industry expertise into a dynamic academic environment while helping prepare the next generation of professional pilots for advanced flight operations.

This is a non-flying position.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will play a critical role in teaching and course development within the Center for Aviation Studies, contributing directly to the continued growth of Ohio State Aviation's professional pilot curriculum. Instruction will emphasize gas‑turbine-powered aircraft and the operational, systems, and crew coordination challenges inherent in multi-pilot jet operations, providing students with a strong foundation aligned with contemporary airline and corporate aviation practices.

The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to teach Part 141 ground schools throughout the academic year to include summer.

As part of this growth, the Center for Aviation Studies is expanding its curriculum to better prepare students for the significant transition from operating small, single ‑pilot aircraft to flying high ‑performance, multipilot jet aircraft. This transition ‑focused curriculum addresses the increased speed, automation, systems complexity, and crew resource management demands associated with transport ‑category aircraft. A key component of this effort includes a dedicated laboratory course conducted in a Boeing 737 MAX Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD), offering students early exposure to airline‑style procedures, flows, and decision-making‑ in a highly realistic training environment.

Courses are offered at the undergraduate level and enroll students from a wide range of multidisciplinary academic backgrounds, creating an engaging and professionally oriented learning environment. Candidates who bring real‑world flight experience, a commitment to mentoring future aviators, and an interest in translating industry best practices into effective classroom and simulator instruction are especially encouraged to apply.

All courses are taught in person on the University's main campus or The Ohio State University Airport (KOSU) in Columbus, Ohio.

The Ohio State University will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this…
