Office of Child Support

Office of Child Support (OCS) establishes policies and guidelines for the child support program based on federal and state laws. Ohio's child support program provides services to help ensure that children receive the financial and medical support they are legally entitled to and deserve. What You Will Do
  • Research child support policy and system information to develop training presentations and materials.
  • Deliver training to county and state child support professionals and assist in the facilitation of training sessions.
  • Perform after‑training session duties, including tracking attendance, reviewing evaluation feedback, and updating handouts and Q&A documents.
  • Collaborate as needed with other OCS units, ODJFS offices, and county partners to produce training.
  • Monitor a shared email inbox and respond to inquiries.
Recommended Skills
  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and presenting to an audience, in person and/or virtually.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of eLearning training development software (Adobe Captivate, Articulate 360, Lectora).
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and a passion for learning.
Challenges
  • You will be responsible for creating and conducting training that requires in-depth knowledge of child support policy and systems.
Schedule

Full‑time.

Hours

Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

A. Rhodes State Office Tower, 30 East Broad St., Floor 31, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

Travel

As needed within the state of Ohio for ad hoc or regional county training.

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohio’s OCSEA Pay Schedule, Pay Range 31. Unless required by legislation or union contract, the starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (Step 1, currently $27.92 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter.

Cost‑of‑Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year.

  • Step 1:
    Hourly $27.92 / Annual $58,074
  • Step 2:
    Hourly $29.22 / Annual $60,778
  • Step 3:
    Hourly $30.55 / Annual $63,544
  • Step 4:
    Hourly $31.88 / Annual $66,310
  • Step 5:
    Hourly $33.52 / Annual $69,722
  • Step 6:
    Hourly $35.15 / Annual $73,112
  • Step 7:
    Hourly $36.90 / Annual $76,752

Months of Employment:
At Hire – 6 Months – 18 Months – 30 Months – 42 Months – 54 Months – 66 Months

Option 1:

Minimum Qualifications
  • 6 courses in human resources, education, sociology or psychology or 18 months experience in preparing informational or instructional programs.
  • 18 months training or 18 months experience in public speaking or effective communication skills.
  • 3 months training or 3 months experience in operating audio‑visual equipment.
Option 2:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
