How You Will Make an ImpactThe Intervention Specialist instructs and assesses assigned students with disabilities in a personalized instructional environment, working with students and/or parents to determine and evaluate the students’ academic plan. This position will collaborate with school administration and faculty to support student retention and academic success.
Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certification, etc.- Knowledge in a variety of educational programs
- Ability to work with a diverse student population
- Ability to learn new educational technologies
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Planning and organizational skills
- Record-keeping skills
- Valid Ohio Educator License Intervention Specialist Mild/Moderate K-12th grade required
- Prior Experience working with children (with SLD, ED, MR, Autism, & other special needs) strongly recommended
- Teaching experience preferred; experience in a diverse setting preferred
- Proficient in student information systems
- Intermediate or Advanced, or Expert skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Travel:
Ability to travel in performance of job duties is required
- Mental Demands: high workflow management, high project coordination, high people engagement
- Finger Dexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together
- Talking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Average Hearing: able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information
- Average Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery
- Physical Strength: sedentary work. Sitting most of the time, and occasionally exerts up to 10 lbs. of force (almost all office jobs)
- Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work required
- Working in a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures
