Open-Rank Tenure-Track Faculty Position in the Division of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (DBCB), Department of Biomedical Informatics (BMI), College of Medicine, The Ohio State University.
Position DetailsTenure faculty (regardless of rank) are professors, associate professors, assistant professors, or instructors who have appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or have attained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned according to workload guidelines in the TIU and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. Candidates should hold a doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field or possess equivalent experience.
Position OverviewThe Division of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (DBCB) in the BMI at The Ohio State University is seeking applicants for tenure-track faculty at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels with research interests in bioinformatics and computational biology. Recruited faculty will join a collaborative community of investigators in BMI sub-domains including bioinformatics, AI in digital health, biostatistics, clinical informatics, and implementation science.
Successful candidates will maintain an active research program, collaborate across the health sciences campus, teach courses, and mentor students. Open to all bioinformatics areas, with particular interest in:
- AI and deep learning for multi-modal data modeling and integration (e.g., multi-omics, EMRs, biomedical imaging).
- AI/DL for omics-based predictive modeling (disease risk, treatment response, adverse events).
- AI/DL methodologies, foundation models, AI agents, digital twins, cloud computing, and cyberinfrastructure in bioinformatics.
- Population and functional genomics (DNA foundation models, pan-genome analysis, structural variant analysis, multi-omics integration).
- Proteomics/metabolomics/microbiome data analysis, and software development for integration with other modalities.
- Develop research methodologies and publish high-impact papers; collaborate across the health sciences campus.
- Secure funding to support the research program (independent and team science).
- Contribute to developing and teaching courses within education programs.
- Mentor graduate students.
Required: Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computer science, statistics/biostatistics, mathematics, or related fields.
Desired: For Associate or Full Professor level, a record of publishing high-impact papers, securing funding, mentoring, and developing/teaching courses; for Assistant Professor level, strong potential for these directions.
