Overview
Education Supports the Office of Whole Child Supports by implementing policies and procedures relating to the education of the whole child with a focus on wellness, school climate, and behavioral needs and structures in schools and districts.
Responsibilities- Provides professional development opportunities and technical assistance to school personnel on integrated multi-tiered systems of supports, school climate, PBIS, student behavior, and other related topics;
- Uses research and evidence-based practices in work and adheres to state and federal guidelines for integrated multi-tiered system of supports, student behavior supports implementation in Ohio schools and districts;
- Works with schools and districts on implementation status and reporting;
- Provides statewide administrative and educational technical assistance to schools, districts, and parent groups regarding the assessment and intervention strategies in areas of school climate and behavior;
- Provides resources for educational service centers (ESCs), state support teams (SSTs), schools, and districts to assess needs of students and select best-practices to incorporate in a plan to address those needs;
- Assists schools and districts with understanding and implementing an integrated multi-tiered system of support;
- Plans and facilitates any requested community of practice and professional development opportunities;
- Consults with school administrators and special education personnel regarding the development and management of effective interventions for students suspected of having a disability;
- Writes and maintains resources for schools and districts supporting the effective implementation of positive behavioral interventions and supports and school climate initiatives, including website guidance, communications, newsletters, or other communication;
- Develops and manages effective services for students with disabilities;
- Makes recommendations on the development of rules, policies, and procedures for the administration of technical assistance statewide to school districts, superintendents, administrators, special education personnel, and pupil personnel about federal and state law and policies.
- 72 months of experience in a school setting as a general education or special education teacher or administrator
- Demonstrated experience or knowledge base of special education, school discipline, and integrated multi-tiered system of supports.
- Strong relationship management skills.
- Superb verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of state government and/or experience managing social service partnerships.
- Experience managing resources to achieve program outcomes.
- Previous employment in an educational setting.
