OverviewThe Center for Lake Erie Area Research at Stone Laboratory is seeking qualified Semester Lecturers to teach summer courses focused on aquatic biology, ecology, and related environmental sciences. Lecturers will deliver high-quality instruction in a field‑based setting, fostering hands‑on learning and scientific inquiry.
Available Courses- Ecology and Conservation of Birds
- Lake Erie Sport Fishing
- Introduction to Biological Studies:
Aquatic Biology - Ecology of Inland Waters
- Introduction to Biological Studies:
Local Plants - Introductory Insect Field Biology
- Moss Identification and Ecology Workshop
- Fish‑Sampling Techniques Workshop
- Dealing with Cyanobacteria and Emerging Contaminants of Concern
- Teach assigned course(s) during the summer semester at Stone Laboratory.
- Develop and deliver engaging, field‑based instruction aligned with course objectives.
- Prepare syllabi, assignments, and assessments.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students during field and lab activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and university policies.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and submit grades promptly.
Required:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Fisheries, Botany, or related discipline).
- Demonstrated expertise in subject matter and ability to teach in a field‑based environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Doctoral degree in a related field.
- Prior teaching experience in field or laboratory settings.
- Familiarity with Lake Erie ecosystems and regional environmental issues.
This is a temporary appointment only for the summer semester of 2026.
