Position: IMMEDIATE: Gifted Intervention Specialist

Gifted Intervention Specialist (IMMEDIATE)

Join KIPP Columbus as a Gifted Intervention Specialist in K‑12 schools in Ohio. You will support students with diverse learning needs through individualized education and intervention strategies.

Job Description
  • Implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
  • Design and execute instructional strategies aligned with Ohio Academic Content Standards for special education students.
  • Provide direct intervention for students with disabilities in general and special education settings.
  • Differentiate instruction and modify curriculum to meet students’ unique learning needs.
  • Use evidence‑based instructional strategies to support academic growth.
  • Work closely with general‑education teachers to co‑plan and co‑teach lessons.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, teachers, families, and related‑service providers.
  • Advocate for inclusive practices and ensure students receive appropriate accommodations.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP and MTSS meetings.
  • Implement behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavior supports.
  • Provide social‑emotional learning (SEL) support to students with disabilities.
  • Utilize de‑escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Assess students’ academic and behavioral progress using formal and informal assessments.
  • Maintain documentation and progress reports for IEPs.
  • Adjust instructional strategies based on data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Adhere to the Operating Standards for Ohio’s Schools Serving Children with Disabilities, ensuring proper placement, instruction, and evaluation of students with disabilities.
  • Ensure adherence to federal and state special‑education laws.
  • Ensure adherence to board policies and district procedures.
  • Stay updated on best practices in inclusive education through ongoing training.
  • Assist in training general‑education staff on inclusion strategies.
  • Actively involve parents and colleagues as learning partners, fostering a collaborative approach to student development.
