Extension Educator Family Consumer Sciences – Franklin County
The Ohio State University Extension (OSUE) seeks an Educator to work collaboratively with county and state teams of OSUE professionals and with local agency leaders and volunteers. The Educator will be responsible for a broad range of basic to complex duties in support of providing guidance and leadership in Family and Consumer Sciences programming. Programming will be targeted at addressing local and regional needs, primarily in areas such as financial literacy, home‑buyer education, and budgeting.
The Educator will also contribute to programming that supports human and family development, healthy relationships, and overall health and wellness. Additional duties may be assigned as determined through community and needs assessments.
- Utilize appropriate methods, both formal and informal, of community assessment to identify educational needs and opportunities of the local community.
- Teach educational programming based on these needs to adults and/or youth groups.
- Convenor and facilitator of community coalitions focused on identified needs.
- Replicate and adhere to existing programs that meet local community needs.
- Develop promotional material, lead committees and volunteers, and establish and maintain community partnerships that support program goals.
- Evaluate educational programs and dissemination methods using existing evaluation instruments to assess teaching effectiveness, program quality, and results of local programs.
- Participate in discussions with county representatives concerning program funding and may be responsible for the management of the county budget.
- Secure external funds to support local programming.
- Act as a member of county, multi‑county, and/or state Extension teams to further the overall mission, vision and values of both OSUE and Family and Consumer Sciences.
- Bachelor’s Degree required for Extension Educator 1.
- Master’s Degree required for Extension Educator 2 and 3.
- 11+ years of direct or related work experience required for Extension Educator 3.
- Housing Counselor Certification preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams and community partners.
- Extension Educator 1: $42,100 - $55,000
- Extension Educator 2: $47,700 - $62,300
- Extension Educator 3: $55,700 - $72,700
The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
