Hourly, Non-Exempt - Reports to:
Head of School
- Support the academic, social, and emotional growth of individual students in a multi‑age classroom.
- Collaborate with and co‑teach alongside middle school staff; create and implement lessons for History and Science that align with Montessori principles and state standards.
- Act as a Montessori Guide for children in their third plane of development.
- Facilitate a respectful environment by encouraging conflict resolution and Grace and Courtesy lessons.
- Use Positive Discipline techniques to redirect children as needed.
- Help plan, prepare, and organize materials for parent volunteers and school maintenance.
- Participate in school‑wide events, weekly level meetings, staff meetings, and Student Support Team meetings.
- Complete all assigned paperwork accurately and timely.
- Maintain a harmonious relationship with co‑teachers, assistants, interns, and administrators.
- Design, implement, and present lessons that ignite curiosity while meeting State of Ohio academic standards.
- Extend the curriculum as student needs dictate.
- Maintain accurate record keeping and planning through the use of Transparent Classroom, observing students to guide instruction.
- Keep the school’s system of record keeping (Gradelink) up to date.
- Send weekly newsletters (email) to parents about their children’s school lives.
- Collaborate with school administration to educate parents on Montessori philosophy.
- Advocate respectful conflict resolution within the classroom.
- Observe and keep daily records of each student’s progression.
- Record observations to guide instruction based on student needs.
- Maintain school calendar of events.
- Establish harmonious relationships with teachers, staff, interns, and administrators.
- Collaborate specifically with middle school co‑teachers and administrators to implement curriculum.
- Attend weekly level meetings and staff meetings.
- Plan, prepare, and organize materials for parent volunteers if necessary.
- Assist in maintenance and cleaning of the building, materials, and playground.
- Report maintenance issues to the Head of School, Director of Operations, or Facility Manager.
- Care for all classroom animals and plants.
- Organize planning time for reviewing lessons, curriculum, and student work.
- Hours:
8:00 am – 3:30 pm (4:30 pm on Wednesday), including a half‑hour lunch break. - Attend, participate, and inform (based on data) Student Support Team meetings as necessary.
- Complete all assigned paperwork such as Administrative Cost Reimbursements, Child History Forms, Admissions Interviews, and student permanent record files.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of School.
- Support and promote a team environment.
- Exhibit enthusiasm, initiative, high energy level, sense of humor, and flexibility.
- Physical ability to work around children, including sitting on the floor, standing, crouching, and climbing stairs.
- Ability to lift or move 25 pounds occasionally.
- Enthusiasm when working with children and adolescents.
- Complete FBI/BCI Background Check, Protecting God’s Children 3‑hour workshop, CPR/First Aid Certification, Religion I course of study (Diocese of Columbus requirement), and other professional development as assigned.
- Credential from the Association Montessori Society, Association Montessori Internationale, or from a MACTE‑approved Teacher Education Program (optional/preferred).
