Locum Jobs Online  is working with Wellhart, LLC to find a qualified Pediatric MD in Akron, Ohio, 44308!

We are seeking a Pediatric Nephrologist for a locum tenens assignment in Ohio, starting May 4, 2026, for a 42-day contract. This role involves day shifts Monday through Friday, with after-hours call coverage and a patient-focused caseload in a collaborative environment.

    Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm clinic; out-of-house call from 5pm–8am weekdays and 5pm Friday–8am Monday on weekends
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Manage a caseload of 3–5 patients on service, including consults
  • Oversee dialysis for 5–6 patients at a time
  • Participate in kidney transplant care coordination (transplants performed at a different system)
  • Follow up with a panel of transplant patients (currently 40, with growth expected)
  • Support outpatient services, with a target of 3500 visits per year as the program develops
  • Respond to after-hours patient calls; rare in-hospital call-backs
  • Ensure 30-minute response time for calls and patient inquiries
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrate strong bedside manner and clear communication with patients
Additional Information
  • Ohio medical license required
  • Board certification in Pediatric Nephrology is mandatory
  • DEA and PALS certifications required
  • Excellent communication skills and team-oriented approach are essential
