The Department of Radiation Oncology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center – Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Institute (OSUCCC-James) is seeking a sub-specialized GU radiation oncologist. The OSUCCC-James is the 3rd largest cancer hospital in the U.S. and the first U.S. Medical Department to host a visit by a sitting U.S. President.
The OSUCCC – James is the only nationally ranked academic medical center to be an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center since 1976 and is one of 11 freestanding cancer hospitals. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.
Position Overview
The Physician provides licensed medical care including diagnosis, treatment (inclusive of surgery or pre/post-surgical care where appropriate), case management and clinical research. The Physician manages complex and sometimes unpredictable situations. The Physician must be competent in technical, clinical and surgical skills (where appropriate), cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients receiving the above-mentioned services. The Physician is expected to practice within the established Medical Center and physician’s standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center.

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the James Cancer Hospital and James Outpatient Care, provides advanced personalized radiation oncology care to cancer patients, specific to their individual tumor and clinical situation. The department is an integral part of Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James). We provide leading-edge radiation therapy care in an environment of subspecialty radiation oncology expertise, education and translational research.
The signature mission of Radiation Oncology at the James Cancer Hospital is to provide state-of-the-art personalized care for our cancer patients by capitalizing upon the unique expertise of our treatment team, implementing cutting-edge technologies geared to eradicate cancer, and conducting cutting-edge clinical, translational, and basic science research.
Treatment Sites for patients being treated for Genitourinary Disease
A full continuum of GU cancer care - from prevention and screening through detection, diagnosis, treatment, is offered at our world class facilities, and has a multi-disciplinary clinic specifically for GU patients. Our department treats GU patients at Main Campus and James Outpatient Care. The main campus has (6) Varian True Beam Linear Accelerators and 1 Varian Halcyon with Ethos adaptive package, 2 CT simulators, an MR and Brachytherapy OR suite equipped with a CT on rails located on the 2nd floor of this state-of-the-art facility.
You would join a team of 6 GU radiation oncologists that together see >800 new patients per year. To accommodate our substantial growth and robust GU cancer radiation oncology program, we have substantial clinic space and a clinical support team that includes 4 Advanced Practice Providers and 4 RNs that practice as part of the disease site team. Our therapists, dosimetrists, and physics teams are also fully dedicated to GU cancer treatments.
Job Requirements:
MD or DO;
Successful completion of an accredited residency and be Board Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Radiology. Must possess or be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio.
