Overview

Position:
Physician – Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Ocular Oncology Ophthalmologist (Open Rank/Track Faculty). The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an Ocular Oncology Ophthalmologist to join the Retina Division within the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Academic rank and track are commensurate with academic record and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Division Director and/or Department Chair determine work assignments. Each faculty member is expected to perform the full range of responsibilities in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Clinical services are a component of faculty responsibility, with or without the presence of a trainee. The academic mission of the Department should be supported. In consultation with the Department Chair, there will be opportunities to pursue research, quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development, and education initiatives, or other activities consistent with the faculty assignment.

Faculty members are expected to teach, which may include clinical or didactic teaching and may involve medical students, residents, fellows, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows. Service commitments will include service at OSUWMC facilities and other clinical sites as assigned. Active participation in divisional, departmental, and college committee functions is expected. Participation in local, regional, or national professional organizations is also expected.

Qualifications

and Requirements
  • Due to contractual agreements with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. citizenship is required for participation in this role.
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Ophthalmology by the time of appointment; eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • MD or DO degree with completed Ophthalmology residency and subspecialty fellowship training in Retina.
  • Academic rank and salary commensurate with experience and credentials.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of Ocular Oncology.
  • Demonstrated interest in scholarship and discovery with evidence of basic and/or clinical research and publications.
  • Commitment to residents, fellows, and medical students.
