The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a PhD or MD/PhD researcher to join the Department of Surgery/Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery. This position is 100% research.

• Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies; develop and write grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding; obtain and maintain NIH R01 or equivalent funding.
• Write and publish research in high‑quality peer‑reviewed scientific journals; attend and make presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develop national and international scholarly reputation.
• Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellow trainees; participate in department, college, and university committees and initiatives.

• PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field.
• Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research.
• Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer‑reviewed journals.
• Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01).
• Academic experience is a plus.
• Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level – rank and salary commensurate with previous training and experience.
