Physician - Infectious Diseases - General Infectious Diseases​/Track Faculty

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an academic Infectious Diseases physician to join the Division of Infectious Diseases/Department of Internal Medicine. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

The Division of Infectious Diseases is actively recruiting an Infectious Diseases specialist with interest and/or expertise in general  HIV. This position will provide inpatient infectious diseases consultative services within the Medical Center on Main Campus and OSU East Hospital. The physician will also be expected to maintain an ambulatory longitudinal care clinic. In addition to coverage of general , opportunities exist for coverage of several service lines, including a dedicated solid organ transplant service, Telehealth, and community hospital consultation.

The division has established and maintains a robust Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) program, seeing approximately 2,200 patients last year. Participates in the training of Infectious Diseases fellows, house staff and medical students, as well as advance practice providers and other allied medical professionals. The physician will be expected to participate in scholarly activities, for example clinical research, and quality improvement projects.

Interest/expertise in the management of general infectious diseases, HIV, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and hospital epidemiology are desired.

The Division of Infectious Diseases is led by Division Director Susan L. Koletar, MD and is comprised of 26 faculty and 4 advanced practice providers. The Division is committed to providing comprehensive patient care, engaging in high quality research and offering innovative medical education to medical students, post-doctoral trainees and professional colleagues. Approximately 8,800 consults were seen last year for patients with a wide range of serious and life‑threatening infections.

The division has five consult services: 2 general , transplant (solid organ), James, OSU East Hospital and an overflow service. Our two‑year ACGME accredited Fellowship Program prepares trainees to be consultants in infectious diseases, with fundamental training for a career in academic infectious diseases. Division faculty also have leadership roles in Medical Center‑supported programs such as antimicrobial stewardship, clinical epidemiology, and OPAT.

The Infectious Diseases Clinical Trials Unit, Movers and continuously funded since 1987, anchors a robust research program. Clinical and scholarly activities are enhanced through collaborations with a number of internal and external partners, including the Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity, College of Public Health, Columbus Public Health and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

• This is an academic position on the clinical track that emphasizes diagnosis and treatment of general infectious diseases.
• Responds to consultation requests; determines, prescribes and implements treatment plans and/or required medications.
• Provides instructional training to fellows, house staff, medical students and ancillary staff.
• Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities.

• MD, DO or equivalent.
• Board certification or eligibility in Infectious Diseases.
• Must possess or be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
