What You’ll Do

If you are passionate about public health, data-driven decision making, and meaningful statewide impact, join a mission-driven public health team dedicated to improving oral health outcomes across Ohio. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your dental hygiene expertise at a systems level, influencing policy, programs, and community-wide initiatives. Additional duties include:

  • Provide technical and subject matter expertise on school-based oral health programs, including dental sealants, fluoride varnish, infection prevention, and the use of portable dental equipment.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of statewide oral health policies, procedures, and annual program strategies.
  • Coordinate and oversee school-based oral health initiatives, including needs assessments, service delivery models and access-to-care efforts.
  • Manage and support oral health grant programs, including developing requests for proposals, reviewing applications, monitoring expenditures, and making funding recommendations.
  • Deliver training, technical assistance, consultation, and quality improvement support to local school-based oral health subgrantees.
  • Evaluate and analyze program performance, expenditure reports, and outcome data.
  • Conduct and support data collection efforts, including oral health surveys, screenings, focus groups, and secondary data analysis to inform program planning and evaluation.
  • Develop program materials, operating manuals, guidance documents, educational resources and communication tools for schools and community partners.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners, committees and work groups at state and national level; serve as liaison to related public health programs and organizations.
  • Prepares reports, scientific or technical papers, presentations, and responds to information requests from stakeholders and the public.
  • Support operational needs of the bureau, including routine paperwork, travel and conference participation.

60 mos. trg. or 60 mos. exp. in dental hygiene, education or public/community health AND license to practice dental hygiene in Ohio pursuant to Chapter 4715.21 of Revised Code.

OR

Associate core program in dental hygiene, education, or health-related field AND 42 mos. trg. or 42 mos. exp. in public/community health AND license to practice dental hygiene in Ohio pursuant to Chapter 4715.21 of Revised Code.

OR

Undergraduate core program in dental hygiene, education, or health-related field AND 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in public/community health AND license to practice dental hygiene in Ohio pursuant to Chapter 4715.21 of Revised Code.

OR

Graduate core program in dental hygiene, education, or health-related field AND 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in public/community health AND license to practice dental hygiene in Ohio pursuant to Chapter 4715.21 of Revised Code.

Or

Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment.
