Responsibilities- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current medications in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) using appropriate aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry needs.
- Assist the dentist during procedures through chairside assisting, ensuring smooth workflow with four‑handed dentistry techniques.
- Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with medical coding standards.
- Maintain accurate patient records within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Monitor and record vital signs and other health indicators as part of comprehensive patient care in general dentistry settings.
- Support infection control protocols by adhering to sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to prevent cross‑contamination.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless patient flow, from check‑in through post‑treatment instructions.
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Prior experience working in a dental office or clinic setting is highly preferred, especially in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry environments.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is desirable for efficient documentation review and record management.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical terminology is essential for accurate patient assessment and treatment documentation.
- Experience with chairside assisting, medical imaging techniques, vital signs measurement, and infection prevention practices will be advantageous.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality and proper handling of medical records and patient information.
