Overview

Faculty - Department of Surgery, Division of Thoracic Surgery (Open Rank/Track) at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The OSU Department of Surgery is recruiting a nationally recognized basic scientist to join the Thoracic Oncology Program. This position is being recruited at the Associate Professor or Professor level.

• Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies; develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support the research program; obtains and maintains NIH R01 or equivalent funding.
• Writes and publishes research in high quality peer-reviewed scientific journals; attends and presents research at national and international conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation.
• Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in department, college and university committees and initiatives.

• PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field
• Established record of basic science or translational research relevant to the study of lung cancer
• Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals (preferred)
• Current, active extramural grant funding equivalent to NIH R01
• Eligible for academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level; rank and salary commensurate with experience

The Department of Surgery, led by Dr. Timothy Pawlik, supports clinical, research and educational opportunities with substantial NIH funding. The Division of Thoracic Surgery, led by Dr. Robert Merritt, provides multidisciplinary care for chest diseases and offers advanced surgical techniques from open to minimally invasive robotic procedures as part of OSUCCC – James.
