Under the direction of the Content Strategist, the Content Specialist plays a key role in producing and maintaining content that supports the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) and its reporting units, which collectively shape and advance academic life at Ohio State. This position collaborates regularly with communicators and marketers in Ohio State’s colleges and academic units to ensure content is accurate, aligned and clearly reflects the university’s academic mission and priorities.

The position also is a strong working partner across the offices and centers that comprise OAA to advance storytelling and content in service of enterprise and unit-based priorities.

The Content Specialist is responsible for creating, updating and managing content across digital channels, with a strong emphasis on website content. This includes writing and editing articles and feature stories, maintaining and updating webpages, and producing photo and video assets to support communication around academic programs, initiatives and events.

This role exercises judgment in translating complex academic information into clear, accessible content for a range of audiences. The Content Specialist works independently on assigned projects, manages multiple deadlines, and collaborates with stakeholders across OAA and the colleges to support both planned content and time-sensitive updates.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer with practical experience creating digital and multimedia content, who is comfortable working with subject-matter experts and communicators across a large, complex academic environment.

Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of relevant professional experience required
Required Qualifications
  • Basic photography and video production skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Experience in higher education or a large, complex organization

    Experience creating short-form video or multimedia content for web or social platforms
  • Familiarity with analytics tools used to evaluate content performance
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Experience updating websites using a content management system
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud or similar creative tools
  • Working knowledge of accessibility best practices for digital content
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Comfort working with a wide range of stakeholders in an academic environment

The target hiring range for this job profile is $58,700 - 70,000. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
